The former Sabres enforcer may have taken that title a little too seriously this weekend.

Former Sabres enforcer Andrew Peters has been suspended as head coach of the Jr. Sabres following his possible involvement in a youth line brawl this Saturday.

Peters’ 15U team was facing the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs at Harbor Center this weekend when a large fight broke out right next to the Sabres bench. In the video below, it appears that the 36-year old Peters attempts to grab and possibly makes contact with one of the Jr. Bulldogs players as referees and coaches alike scrambled to get control of the situation.

Jr. Sabres president Kevyn Adams had this to say regarding the events on Saturday:

We are very disappointed in the series of events that unfolded during the 15U Buffalo Jr. Sabres game on Saturday. We are currently reviewing the situation and in the meantime have suspended Head Coach Andrew Peters indefinitely until the matter is resolved.

Peters has told a Jr. Sabres official (who then told the AP) that he slipped trying to get a Hamilton player away from the Buffalo bench. At this time, no charges have been filed against Peters by Buffalo police.

Peters was a long-time enforcer for the Sabres, and is now the co-host of The Instigators show on WGR 550, though no statement has been made about how this might affect his duties with the station.

We’ll update this bizarre story if anything else happens today.
