The Buffalo Sabres announced they’ve recalled forward Nick Baptiste before they head out on a two-game road trip against the Arizona Coyotes and Dallas Stars. The 22-year-old winger was selected by the Sabres in the third-round of the 2013 draft. He’ll try to follow the steps of Justin Bailey in his first recall of the season.
Baptiste played in 14 NHL games last season and scored three goals and one assist during his time in Buffalo. He also added 25 goals and 41 points in 59 games with the Rochester Americans last season in the AHL.
The speedy forward earned the call-up with his hot play over the past week or so with the Amerks. He has three goals and five points in eight games this season. He’ll inject some much-needed speed into the lineup and potential for some depth scoring on the roster. We’ll see what line he’ll skate with today in practice.
