The Buffalo Sabres announced this morning they’ve recalled defenseman Taylor Fedun from the Rochester Amerks. This likely means that Josh Gorges will not play tonight against the Vancouver Canucks.
Fedun played in 39 games with the Sabres last season scoring two goals and 14 points during that time. This season in the AHL with the Amerks, he’s registered one point in three games.
Many expected that the first call-up on the blue line would be top prospect Brendan Guhle. The 20-year-old will have to wait a little longer to get his chance to play with the Sabres this season.
Also, this move makes you wonder exactly what is going on with Victor Antipin. We’ll know more once the morning skate gets underway, but signs point to Fedun getting in the lineup over the KHL import. Antipin has only played in three games and has been a healthy scratch in the previous four contests.
