2017 NHL Draft: Sabres take Linus Weissbach with pick 192

With pick #192 in the 2017 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres have taken…Linus Weissbach, Swedish winger who played in the USHL last season.

Weissbach scored 47 points in 49 games last season for the Tri-City Storm of the USHL, and will play for the University of Wisconsin next season. He “skates like the wind,” according to his Sportsnet profile, and it’s a good thing he does, because he only stands 5’9’’.

The speedy Swede had similar production two years ago for Frolunda HC’s U-20 team, and has a little bit of international experience for Sweden as well.

His selection continues a trend in this draft of smaller guys with very good skating ability and offensive upside. And with this pick, the Buffalo Sabres are done at the 2017 NHL Draft.
