Counting down twelve wishes for the Buffalo Sabres this holiday

NHL: Buffalo Sabres at Toronto Maple Leafs Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

You’ve all heard "The Twelve Days of Christmas", an English Christmas carol that’s been around for a couple of centuries now. Here’s a hilarious version done by acapella group Straight No Chaser -

11. A Winter Classic to remember: Sabres vs Leafs, New Year's Day 2018 at New Era Field

The Sabres and Leafs have been basement-dwellers for the last few years in the NHL, but the rivalry remains untamed. Even in their rebuilding phases, all the chatter has been about who is retooling faster with better prospects and who is already making strides towards the top.

Toronto fans have often traveled to see their team at the HSBC Arena First Niagara Center KeyBank Center where they face less prohibitive prices and offer opportunities to Buffalo natives to pay their season ticket bills. An offer of 30,000+ tickets to come watch the game at Ralph Wilson Stadium New Era Field will probably pay off the City of Buffalo’s debt for the last few years.

The abundance of Winter Classics, Heritage Classics and whatever-you-want-to-call-an-outdoor game has taken off some of the novelty associated with the event, but don’t forget the very first Winter Classic was also played in Buffalo when the stadium was still called the Ralph, the Sabres were halfway decent and some runt called Sidney Crosby was still breaking Western New York hearts.

So what do you think, would you be down for a Sabres vs Leafs Winter Classic?
