How do you feel about the Sabres staying quiet on the first day of free agency?

Was Murray wise to sit out the start of the NHL's annual spending spree?

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Tim Murray hasn't exactly been one to sit back and watch since he was named the Sabres general manager. Yet, he did just that yesterday, only signing two likely Rochester-bound free agents on the first day of the open signing period.

It wasn't silly money season like it often is on July 1st, but many of the top targets are now off the board. If the Sabres still want to add a left-handed defenseman in free agency, it won't be Paul Martin, Andrej Sekera, Francois Beauchemin, Barret Jackman, Matt Hunwick or John Moore.

That doesn't mean the Sabres won't add another left-shot defenseman. Murray specifically targeted that as a need following the draft, and he seems to be the type of person who gets the thing he targets. However, his options in free agency are slim, and he'd need to give up a player to land a solid defenseman in free agency.

Are you worried that the Sabres only added Matt Donovan and Jason Akeson on day one, or are you okay with the Sabres patient approach?
