The Buffalo Sabres have now lost four of their last five games with their 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. After taking two separate leads over the Devils, the defense and goaltending failed the team again as New Jersey scored three goals in a twenty minute period and then locked down the rest of the game.
Linus Ullmark was the biggest question mark of the game as he made his NHL debut giving Chad Johnson a break for the night. For the most part, Ullmark looked capable for being an NHL goalie with 24 saves on 28 shots. But, some of the goals that Ullmark allowed were momentum killers and just simply goals that he would have wanted back. Exhibition A is Adam Henrique's goal at the end of the first period:

Exhibition B was the David Schlemko goal that came at the end of the second period:
The Sabres offense showed flashes of moments were they were clearly the better team, even outshooting their opponent for the second straight game. But, defensive lapses by Ryan O'Reilly, who finished the game with a goal and an assist, and Tyler Ennis led to the eventual game winning goal:
The Sabres will have a couple of days to work on their issues before they head out on the road for a two game road trip through Pennsylvania.
