NHL All-Star Draft 2015: Girgensons drafted by Team Foligno

Zemgus Girgensons may have been the leading fan vote-getter at the All-Star Game (thanks again, Latvia!) but as far as his actual on-ice production goes, Girgensons ranks near the back of the pack, so for Buffalo Sabres fans watching last night’s All-Star Fantasy Draft, it was a waiting game to see just how late Zemgus would get picked.

And while Sabres fans had to wait a long time, they didn’t have to wait until the very end – Girgensons was drafted by Team Foligno in the 16th of 18 rounds, ahead of Tyler Johnson, Filip Forsberg, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and funnily enough, Alex Ovechkin.

Girgensons enjoyed the loose atmosphere of the draft, he told Sabres.com, and will participate in today’s skills competition, though he’s not sure exactly which part of that competition he’ll be involved in. You can find the full list of teams below, and if you watched the draft, let us know what you thought of this year’s proceedings.
