Update: John Vogl of The Buffalo News has reported that the 2016 NHL Draft will be coming to Buffalo.
Original Article: There are conflicting reports out of the Buffalo media today. News began when James Fink of Business First reported that the Sabres would be hosting the 2017 All-Star Game. Buffalo hasn't hosted the event since 1978.
However, multiple reporters refute that report, including Adam Benigni and John Vogl. They are reporting that it will actually be the 2016 NHL Draft that Buffalo will host. This seems to be the more accepted report at this time. The Sabres have been tied in recent months to interest in upcoming drafts. Buffalo last hosted the draft in 1998, when Vincent Lecavalier was taken first overall.
Either way, Gary Bettman will reportedly be in the city on Monday as part of an announcement.
Terry Pegula and the Sabres organization have been open about desire to bring as many hockey events to Buffalo as possible. Buffalo has already been chosen as the new host of the draft combine, the 2015 women's world championships, and the 2015 sled hockey world championships as well.
