Contract: $1,200,000 per year through till 2013-14.

Report Card Grade in 2012: 4.5 out of 10

Introduction: Cody McCormick had another unspectacular year, playing eight games and doing his best mailbox impression. In fact, this year his fighting majors were down to two since John Scott’s arrival, resulting in his being sent down to Rochester where he was more useful. Who knew he could score?

Key Stat: Seven goals, one in the playoffs. Two on the power play, two short handed. Wrap your head around that one!

Thumbs Up: Try as I might, I cannot remember a single highlight from his eight games for the Sabres this year. Except maybe this fight.

Thumbs Down: McCormick is destined to be a career AHL player, and should remain in Rochester unless a major epidemic sweeps through the locker room in Buffalo. He will provide some veteran leadership at the feeder club, but that’s his ceiling.

Voting: Using the good old grade school system of A, B, C, D, F, with A representing a great season, C an average season, and F a very poor season, grade Cody McCormick on his performance this year according to the expectations you had for him.

What grade would you give Cody McCormick for his 2012-13 season?

A 5
B 11
C 45
D 49
F 29
