Report Card for 2012: 8

Introduction: Jason Pominville always had a higher level of expectations thrust upon him after he was named captain at the start of the 2011-12 season. The team’s leading scorer in the 2011-12 season, Pominville was expected to continue that level of performance. Through 37 games, Pominville had 10 goals and 15 assists which finished the season good for fourth on the team.

At the trade deadline, Pominville was dealt to the Minnesota Wild for Matt Hackett, Johan Larsson and draft picks. For the Wild, Pominville had some offensive success with four goals and five assists in 10 games with the team. Pominville only played in two of the Wild’s playoff games this season after he was elbowed by Los Angeles’ Dustin Brown at the end of the season.

Thumbs Up: Much like his linemates at the time, Pominville had a scorching start to the 2013 season with six goals and eight assists in the first 10 games. The first 10 games accounted for 56% of Pominville’s season point total.

Thumbs Down: Pominville’s attitude in the media had turned many fans against him as the team started to struggle on the ice. Many fans felt that Pominville was not the right person to lead this team because of the belief that he didn’t bring that edge and hold people accountable when things started to fall apart. His game started to fall apart as well during that down turn as he scored in three of his final 27 games with the team.

Voting: Using the good old grade system of A, B, C, D, F, with A representing a great season, C an average season, and F a very poor season, grade Jason Pominville on his performance this season compared to the expectations you had for him.
