2012 All-American Prospects Game: Second Period Recap

After only ten combined shots on goal and one goal, the second period of the All-American Prospects game has opened up offensively with Team McClanahan leading 4-0 after two periods.

The flood games opened early for the Team McClanahan offense in the second period. Their first goal of the period came at the 6:06 mark as Seth Jones sniped a shot from the blue line past Eamon Mcadam for his first goal of the night. Two minutes later, Jacob Montgomery scored his first goal of the game on an impressive backhander just tucked under the crossbar. The final goal of the period came on a garbage clean up goal in front of the net from Quinton Shore.

Ryan Fitzgerald recorded his second assist of the night on the Seth Jones goal and he is the points leader thus far with two on the night. Jimmy Lodge, Mike McCarron and Taylor Cammarata each earned assists in the period as well.

Starting goaltenders Eamon McAdam and Cal Peterson made their exits at the halfway mark of the second period. McAdam ended the game with 10 saves on 13 shots while Cal Peterson finished with seven saves on seven shots. Evan Cowley replaced Cal Peterson and finished the period with three saves in ten minutes of work. At the opposite end, Hunter Miska had seven saves in his limited time.

The physicality of the game has picked up as well. Steve Santini leveled the first big check of the night early in the second period. Each team has had a power play chance in the game as Tyler Motte had a tripping penalty and Ryan Fitzgerald had a hooking penalty. Neither team was able to convert on the power play.

The third period should prove eventful as both sides still have something to prove.
