TSN, among others, is reporting that the Calgary Flames have asked 31-year old defenseman Robyn Regehr to waive his no-movement clause in order to accept a trade to the Buffalo Sabres

No details have been released about what the Sabres would be giving up in this deal, but Calgary is pretty thin on defense, which is an area the Sabres have an abundance of riches. Let the speculation begin on which combination of young NHLers, prospects, and draft picks would be enough to net the 6'3'', 226lb Regehr.

Regehr was informed of the deal yesterday, according to Darren Dreger of TSN, and has been given no time frame on when is answer is due, and with the draft beginning tomorrow we can speculate that the Sabres first round pick is probably not part of the deal.

If you're not familiar with the big blueliner, Regehr is very much a stay-at-home guy who won't provide you with any offense but will always be on the good side of the +/- and would look to be that top-flight defenseman Ruff wants to pair with Tyler Myers. Oh, and it turns out he was Tyler Myers' favorite player growing up.

Regehr has two years remaining on his current contract at a cap hit of $4.02 million per season. We'll hopefully know more about the deal soon, and we'll be sure to update you as soon as we know.
