The Sabres could be happy they have 24 hours to turn around their loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs as they face off against the New York Rangers at home on Wednesday night. The Sabres did not have a good start against the Leafs, giving up the first goal in the first two minutes of the game. Goaltender Ryan Miller was not happy with the way he started, according to the Buffalo News
"Not quite the effort we wanted," Miller said in Air Canada Centre. "I had a chance to set the tone on my end and didn't do it, and it just kind of went from there.
"I just didn't close off cross-body. It was rising up and I didn't have a step on it, so I just looked stupid."
The Sabres chances of making the playoffs went down 10.7% with the Sabres loss and the Hurricanes shootout win. The Rangers are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and have won two of the three matchups against the Sabres this year. The lone matchup in HSBC Arena this year was a 6-3 loss for the Sabres on October 9th.
The Sabres will have to watch out for Artem Anisimov and Derek Stepan in this game as they are the leading scorers for the Rangers in the season series thus far with three goals each. Stepan got all of his goals in one game, on October 9th, while Anisimov has scored his goals in the last two games. No Sabre has more than two goals against the Rangers this season.
The game time is 7:00 pm and can be seen on MSG in Buffalo and on Versus outside of Buffalo.
