In the midst of the longest home stand of the season, the Buffalo Sabres can't seem to find the offense. The Sabres were shut out against the St. Louis Blues on Friday night, 3-0. The Sabres have scored one goal in six home periods in this home stand and the schedule doesn't get easier with games against Washington, Atlanta, and Detroit to finish out the home stand. To make matters worse, the Hurricanes beat the Flyers on Rod Brind'amour night to be up four points with two games.
The St. Louis Blues got the scoring started in the second period with a TJ Oshie goal and then gave themselves a two goal lead with a David Backes power play goal. Goaltender Ty Conklin took it from there with 25 saves. Conklin has historically been outstanding against the Sabres and he didn't have to do much to get this shutout. Ryan Miller had 21 saves on 23 shots. Here are the highlights of the game if you want to relive them:
The Sabres will face off on Hockey Day In America against the Washington Capitals on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 pm.
