Was there ever a doubt? Ryan Miller was awarded the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in the league. Miller had an outstanding season for the Buffalo Sabres and of course his incredible showing for the United States in the Olympics.
Miller has been the backbone of the Sabres for a couple years now, but this season he really came into his own. He finished fourth in wins, second in goals against average, second in save percentage and seventh in shutouts. Miller seems to get better and better every season and hopefully he will eventually guide the Sabres to their first Stanley Cup.
I found it odd that Miller seemed a bit nervous when talking after winning the award. I know I would have been nervous but he always seems to be comfortable in front of the camera. I guess he is human after all.
