The Buffalo Sabres will finish the preseason tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers at HSBC Arena. The Sabres lost to the Flyers on Friday night in Philadelphia. That was a lineup that had mostly regulars with Miller in net and the same type of lineup should be iced again tonight.
A couple of injuries of note heading into tonight and for the start of the regular season. Thomas Vanek suffered some head and neck injuries during the Montreal game on Thursday and will be out for the final preseason game. Patrick Lalime has suffered a groin injury and may be out for the start of the season.
The Sabres sent down nine players including Mark Mancari and Luke Adam. The team now has 26 players on the roster and needs to cut down to 23 by Wednesday. With 14 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders, a couple of players will find themselves on the cut list by the end of this game while others will find themselves in the right spot due to injuries.
The Philadelphia Flyers appears to be icing a lineup that serves as a season ending tuneup. With their 3-1 victory over the Sabres at home on Friday, the Flyers have had a 5-1-1 record during the preseason and looks good heading into the season. Brian Boucher should be the starting goaltender and as far as I can tell it will be a lineup full of starters for the Flyers.
Game time is 6:00 pm at HSBC Arena. No TV for this game so enjoy the radio version. Game recap will be up a few hours after the game.
