Game Notes
  • We'll start wth Tim Connolly. He is on a tear like no other player in this game with 19 points while he has a season high 12 game point streak. Tonight he will go for his 13th straight. Mike Harrington commented via Twitter that Gilbert Perreault has the Sabres all-time high with an 18 game point streak.
  • This is going to be a tough task for the Sabres tonight. The Sabres have struggled in back-to-back games and they are facing a very hot Ducks team. The Ducks have won seven in a row on home ice and they are 4-1-0 overall in their last five games.
  • The game might come down to a battle of special teams. The Sabres have the third ranked penalty kill but they will be up against the eighth ranked power play from Anaheim. The Ducks power play is even better at home converting at a rate of 25.5% (24/94).
  • The Sabres are eighth in the league in penalty minutes with 554 on the season. Anaheim is 26th in the league with 774 penalty minutes.
  • The Ducks are expected to be without Teemu Selanne (fractured jaw), Joffrey Lupul (back surgery), George Parros (hand laceration) and Saku Koivu (knee strain).
  • Speaking in segments: I have constantly talked about 10 game segments and earning at least 12 points every 10 games. The Sabres are 5-0-2 during this 10 game segment which means they already have 12 points with three games left in this segment.
