The Buffalo Sabres made their final cuts on Wednesday and have announced their team for opening night. This will be part 1 of a three part post entitled Meet the Sabres. It will basically be a quick guide to every player on the Sabes roster and what I expect from each player this season. Today we take a look at the Goalies that remain on the Sabres roster heading into the season.

What to Expect - Ryan Miller had his best NHL season in 2008-2009. I expect Miller to build upon that season and be an even better goalie this season. We all know that Miller is a very competitive player with a win at all cost mentality. He will be motivated by missing the playoffs the past two seasons and the Olympics will be extra motivation. Remember Miller was left off the USA Olympic squad four years ago and it is no secret that he wants to be on that team this year.
The Sabres are going to have to try to keep Miller in the 60-65 game range to keep him fresh if he is on the Olympic team. He played in only 59 games last season but it would have been closer to 70 if he wasn't injured at the end of February.

What to Expect - Patrick Lalime was very inconsistent in his first season with the Sabres. He didn't get very much plaing time in the beginning of the season and then he was asked to carry the team when Miller went down. It was a difficult situation for Lalime to be thrown into and we aren't sure how much his hip injury affected his play.
He is going to need to better if the Sabres are going to make the playoffs this season. Miller is going to need extra rest because of the Olympics and Lalime will need to play 15-20 games this season.
