Sabres Have Weekend Meltdown

The goal of not losing two games in a row is no longer a reality for the 2009-2010 version of the Buffalo Sabres.  This team had set that goal before the season started and through the first 10 plus games they managed to maintain that goal.  They lost 5-2 at home on Friday against the Philadelphia Flyers and followed that up with a road loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

When you think about it, this game had all the makings of a loss.  The Sabres have struggled in the second game of back-to-back games over the past two seasons, including two losses this season.  Rookie goalie Jhonas Enroth was making the first start of his NHL career and the team didn't play all that well on Friday night.  This is not meant to be justifying the loss but  we shouldn't be surprised the Sabres didn't win.

It is a little disconcerting to see the Sabres drop two straight early in November but there are still plenty of positives. They are still in first place in the Northeast division and have played less games than every team except the second place Senators. They are going to have to figure out what happened this weekend and correct it but a great October has given them some margin for error. I didn't see the game but I am going to try to watch it later. After I watch the game I will share some more thoughts. I will also have a stats post later today. Share your thoughts on the game here.
