Because of what I would call a scheduling quirk tonight will be the final matchup of the regular season between the Sabres and Penguins. Last season the teams didn't meet for the first time until December 29 and of course they met the second time on January 1 in the Winter Classic.

So far this season the Sabres have fared well against the Pens. They lost the first meeting but held a 2-1 lead after two periods before allowing the Pens to score four times in the third period. The last two meeting shave both been 4-3 Sabres victories.

The injury bug has really hit the Sabres as of late with Patrick Kaleta and Paul Gaustad the latest Sabres to join that list. They join Tim Connolly, Nathan Gerbe and Craig Rivet on the sidelines. Kaleta is suffering from a head and neck injury because of a cheap shot he received from Dennis Gauthier on Friday night (I'll have much more about this either later tonight or tomorrow).

In the three games these teams have played the Penguins have used three different Goalies. Marc-Andre Fluery, Danny Sabourin and John Curry have all played against the Sabres with only Fluery earning a victory.

If you have never joined us for a Game Thread come on in and chat with us. If you already have an account than comment away and if you haven't than wait no more. It's easy to do and you can join us during the game as we talk about the Sabres while criticizing the refs and the opponent...it's great therapy!
