It ended with a shootout but the Buffalo Sabres evened their pre season record to 1-1 after beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2. The Sabres trailed most of the game but were able to tie it with a late goal by Jason Pominville and eventually won in a shootout.
The Sabres trailed 1-0 early but capitalized on a power play opportunity when Ales Kotalik scored a power play marker for Buffalo. The Sabres power play has been an area of concern so it was nice to see them get this goal. Without the game being televised it's hard to tell you a whole lot of what went on.
The Sabres will be back in action on Monday at 8pm against the Minnesota Wild. The game is being played in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Sabres forward Drew Stafford played his college hockey for the North Dakota Fighting Sioux. It is also a homecoming of sorts for Paul Gaustad who is from Fargo, North Dakota.
