I am happy to say that Mike Peca will not be playing for the Buffalo Sabres this season. On Tuesday night Peca signed a one-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Is it possible that Peca could still help a team? Sure I'm just glad it's not my team. The whole Peca saga needed to be over for the the sake of the entire league not just the Sabres and their fans.
Since leaving the the Sabres, Peca has played for the Islanders, Oilers, Maple Leafs, and now the Columbus Blue Jackets. It has become painfully obvious that Peca is on the downside of his career and there were just too many issues with him returning to the Sabres. It would have been a huge distraction for the Sabres to have him on the team.
