Is Roy going to sign?

Roy set for Friday hearing
It's getting down to the wire and Derek Roy still is unsigned.  I'm starting to get a little bit worried but it's not a lost cause.  If you take a look back to last week Ray Emery signed on the morning of his hearing.  In this article in TBN Darcy points out that sometimes it's easier to get a deal done the day of the hearing.

"A lot of time you end up doing the contract just before the hearing," Regier said. "The dynamics are such management is there, the player is there, the agent is there. Even when things appear lost the day before, there’s always a possibility to get things done heading into the proceedings."

The biggest factor with Roy is that he is enjoying some success at such a young age.  He is a player who has a huge upset and should get even better.

There is also a great story written by NHL.com correspondent James Murphy.  He has an interview with Darcy Regier regarding the state of the Sabres.  Regier talks about how the Sabres are still the elite team in the East.

"A lot of time you end up doing the contract just before the hearing," Regier said. "The dynamics are such management is there, the player is there, the agent is there. Even when things appear lost the day before, there’s always a possibility to get things done heading into the proceedings."

You have to agree that the Sabres do an outstanding of stockpiling talent in the minors.  The Sabres have been criticized for their new video scouting and maybe it's warranted but at this point they seem to always make good decisions.
