It's a good thing we get right back at it just one day later because the loss yesterday is stinging a little bit. I know it's only one game but I believe in this team and I guess I need some validation that they are still good without last years captains.
The Sabres lost their home opener to the NY Islanders by a score of 6-4...The last time Ryan Miller allowed six goals in one game was January 3rd, 2007 in a loss to the Ottawa Senators...The Sabres won 25 games on the road last year (led the Eastern Conference)...The Sabres have won seven of their last nine games against the NY Islanders...The last time the Sabres lost two in a row to the Islanders was February of 2004...Ales Kotalik is expected to miss the game with an injury.
The Islanders six goals last night were a franchise record for an opening game...The newcomer line of Comrie-Fedetenko-Guerin had 10 points last night against the Sabres...Josef Vasicek scored a goal in his first game as an Islander...Mike Comrie was voted the first star of last nights game...The Islanders were 15-12-3 in back-to-back games last season including 8-5-2 on the second night.
The Sabres won 10 consecutive games to start last season...this season they lost in game one.
