The Buffalo Sabres completed their roster in anticipation of their opening game on friday night. Clarke MacArthur and Andrej Sekera were assigned to Rochester and are expected to play in the Amerks opening game on friday night. The Sabres are now left with 21 players and the opening night roster is set. The move is one that makes sense for Buffalo because Rochester is a short car ride to Buffalo and the players can be recalled if necessary. The two players we referred to both will benefit from the ice time they will receive in Rochester more than they will benefit from sitting in the press box.
MacArthur had played very well in the pre-season and many people thought he was a lock to make the opening day lineup but it appears that Lindy Ruff had other ideas. MacArthur will definitely see some time in Buffalo this season, either as an injury replacement or to replace a player who might be struggling. I think the same will hold true for Sekera.
