[open thread] Sabres vs. Penguins (Winter Classic)

Time: 1:00PM EST TV: NBC (HD) Radio: WGR55

It's finally here...the Winter Classic at Ralph Wilson Stadium.  There isn't a whole lot I can say about the game itself because this game is about the experience and the weather.              The most recent weather forecast is for rain changing to snow and 2-4 inches of snow on Tuesday.  The forecast turns much colder throughout the day and into Wednesday with highs Wednesday of 17 degrees.  Everyone have a safe and happy new year and be here tomorrow at 1PM to talk about the game.  Feel free to post in this thread early if you want to talk about the game.

Final Score Prediction

Seeing as how the visibility above the rink was near impossible to navigate, I'm going to say the goalies won't be able to see the puck either.

Final Score: Penguins 17 Sabres 15

Pens

Are dominating this game right now.

On a side note, the snow is really packing onto the ice right now to the point where the only way to clear the puck is to lift it.

I'm late but I'm here...

I seen the pregame and that was amazing but from what I seen there is too much snow on the ice to play the game.

At least the game went on...

But this isn't doing much to reel in new fans on a national broadcast

Sabres

Are really dominating the second.  Miller hasn't faced a single shot this period, and nothing in 16 minutes

Good period

For the Buffalo Sabres but the score is still 1-1.  The weather is obviously an issue.  What is more fair continue playing or do a shootout at HSBC arena on February 17.  I say if they went this far they might as well continue playing now.
