The next player in line to become the newest Sabres whipping boy, Drew Stafford.
Introduction: Drew Stafford has been a decisive player during his five seasons with the Buffalo Sabres. At times, Stafford has been derided for floating and not playing to his full potential and other times he scores a hat trick. It appears that Stafford has turned his career around with a career high of 31 goals and 52 points last season. That season led to Stafford signing a four year $16 million contract during the offseason.
Now that Stafford has become a team leader in goals, his 31 goals in 62 games is the best goals/game on the team, that production is going to be expected over the next four years. The main question is whether this production will continue or was it a case of scoring big for a contract year?
Andrej Sekera: 2010-2011 Report Card

Next up is Andrej Sekera
Introduction: Andrej Sekera has always been one of those defensemen that has been apart of the number crunch at the backend of the Sabres blueline. He played in a total of 76 games this season and was consistently fighting for playing time with Mike Weber and Chris Butler for the sixth and final defensive spot. Sekera only managed two playoff games as he was held out of the lineup for an upper body injury.
Derek Roy: 2010-2011 Report Card
It's time to put the finishing touches on the 2010-2011 season for the Buffalo Sabres. Here is a complete report card of every single player that played any amount of time with the Sabres this season. The journey began with Luke Adam and will conclude in a month with Mike Weber. I think we forgot that we had five more of these to finish.
Introduction: Derek's Roy season ended four months too soon for a player that was averaging a point per game, the first time Roy has done that since he had 81 points in 78 games during the 2007-08 season. Roy's season essentially ended when he tore his quadriceps after a hit from Florida's Dmitri Kulikov. That happened on December 23rd and many Sabres fans thought that his injury was going to be the end of the Sabres season as we knew it because at the time he was the best player on the ice.
The Sabres rebounded their season without Roy in the lineup and Roy returned for the final game of the Flyers series in the playoffs where he registered an assist in the lone game he played in. Roy comes into the 2011-12 season with something to prove as he needs to continue to show that he is possibly a number one center in this league.
Craig Rivet: 2010-2011 Report Card
It's time to put the finishing touches on the 2010-2011 season for the Buffalo Sabres. Here is a complete report card of every single player that played any amount of time with the Sabres this season. The journey began with Luke Adam and will conclude in a month with Mike Weber. It's now time for the former captain
Introduction: The much maligned captain of the Buffalo Sabres saw his tenure with the team end mercifully as he was claimed on re-entry waivers by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Before then, Rivet was benched for much of the season as he lost a step or two and the pressure from the younger defensemen that were sitting was too much to keep Rivet in the lineup. Rivet never lost his captaincy until he was waived by the Sabres, something that coach Lindy Ruff didn't want to experience again after the same situation happened to him.
Rivet did end up playing in 23 games for the Sabres and did score three points for the Sabres in those games and managed to score three points in those games. After Rivet was claimed by the Blue Jackets in March, he played 14 games for the team and managed one goal.
Rivet's main question now is whether he will continue to play hockey or hang up the skates after a rather dismal season on the ice.
Jason Pominville: 2010-2011 Report Card
It's time to put the finishing touches on the 2010-2011 season for the Buffalo Sabres. Time for the most adorable player on the team, Jason Pominville.
Introduction: Jason Pominville needs no introduction - we all know this guy, right? It seems like we've known Pominville forever, but he's not yet reached 30 years old. You know exactly what you're getting from him with no surprises, but whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you. Aside from his injury this year, Pominville has been remarkably consistent as a Sabre, especially over the past three seasons. So how do you feel about that? We'll dive in a little deeper after the break.
Mark Parrish: 2010-2011 Report Card

Most of you may be wondering who Mark Parrish is and exactly when he played in a Buffalo Sabres game. Parrish played two games for the Sabres this year as an emergency replacement at the beginning of March. He really didn't make an impact on the games that he played as he was only on the ice for two goals against in the Sabres loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 12th.
In the AHL, Parrish had 51 points which was good for fifth on the team in scoring during the regular season and added three goals and six points during the Calder Cup Playoffs. Parrish does have a solid NHL career as he has played 11 seasons in the NHL with a total of 722 games, 216 goals, and 387 points. He was drafted 79th overall in the 1996 Entry Draft.
At this point in Parrish's career, he serves as a good AHL veteran to mentor the prospects in Portland/Rochester. He signed a one year, two-way deal last offseason and the organization would have to resign Parrish for another season.
Rob Niedermayer: 2010-2011 Report Card
It's time to put the finishing touches on the 2010-2011 season for the Buffalo Sabres. Here is a complete report card of every single player that played any amount of time with the Sabres this season. The journey began with Luke Adam and will conclude in a month with Mike Weber. Thanks to Japers Rink and Mile High Hockey for the inspiration.
Time for Rob Niedermayer
Introduction: For the longest time, it appeared that the Rob Niedermayer signing was going to be one of the biggest busts in the history of signings for GM Darcy Regier. Niedermayer took until March 6th against the Minnesota Wild for him to score his first goal of the season, a 53 game drought from the start of the season.
Niedermayer did end up with five goals in his last 18 games and included another goal in Game 6 of the playoffs. His four points in the playoffs ended up tied with Tyler Ennis and Jason Pominville for fourth on the team. Niedermayer wasn't brought in for scoring twenty goals, but for his veteran presence in the lineup and defensive ability.
