Im not really expecting much this offseason from the Sabres.
The most I am hoping for is the Sabres reacquiring Steve Ott.
There's rumors that they are interested in acquiring Ryan Callahan being that he's from Rochester, and there's a couple other local products hitting free agency in Rochester's Brian Gionta and Buffalo's Brooks Orpik....but I doubt the Sabres are interested in adding guys like that.
What about Dave Bolland?
Here's a guy who might be the ideal player too add. Not necessarily a big name guy, but certainly well known
around the NHL.
He's a guy who brings a lot to the table: he's a complete pain in the *** to play against and has enough skill to play on the second line, but his best fit is as the 3rd line center....On the Sabres, he's likely a second line center. Not to mention, 2 Stanley Cup Championships.
I dont know what kind of team Murray is trying to build, but judging by the fact that he's added a ton of larger power forward types in Chris Stewart, and prospects; Nick Deslauriers, Hudson Fasching, and William Carrier, and judging by how he vocally expressed his praise for how much he loves Steve Ott, I get the hunch like Tim Murray wants to have a big, mean, and physical, tough to play against type of team.
I think Dave Bolland is a type of guy that you can bring in to help lead a re-build and support Buffalo's future star's and youth.
His Defensive work alone would be benefical to this team, and it's not like if they bring in Dave Bolland that he's going to make them a playoff team all by himself.
Dave Bolland would be a nice supporting cast peice to the new core the Sabres plan on assembling.
