The dreaded no trade list is many things: harbinger of possible change in a hockey team, source of constant internet speculation, constant trade deadline companion. With all the discussion around the trade deadline regarding these, I thought it might be fun for us to submit our own list of 8 teams we would not accept a trade to if we had a limited no trade clause in our player contracts. So here are mine:
Edmonton Oilers - Remote location and poor organizational management land Edmonton near the top of many NHL players no-trade list. If I was going to move this far away from my family, I'd at least prefer to be in the same country.
I lumped the three NYC area teams together just because I'm not wild about the area. Yes, I know this makes me kind of weird, but different strokes for different folks. Too many people in not enough space.
Dallas Stars - Dallas just seems like too much of a cultural wasteland for me to be happy.
Florida Panthers - I'm just not a Miami guy. Playing at games in front of a crowd of a couple thousand would be depressing.
Toronto Maple Leafs - The GTA is crowded, not very interesting (unless you enjoy hanging out with the best and brightest in Canadian finance and entertainment or suburban sprawl on a huge scale). No thanks.
Winnipeg Jets - Just too cold.
What are your choices? Let's hear 'em.
