Watching the Islanders in the series with Pittsburgh the differences between them and my beloved Sabres is startling. The Islanders a big, aggressive, FAST, and accurate with their passes. There were few loose pucks that they did not get to or aggressively contest. Watching a rerun of the Sabres vs the Penguins I saw a team that was tentative, slow and looking for the Pens to make a mistake to take advantage of. The amazing point is the Pittsburgh games were considered amongst the best of the season. I watched the Islander transition game put the Penguins on the defense and I saw the Isles take the body not just give up the defensive zone freely. In fact the tying goal was a lapse were Malkin was given the outside to rush the zone something I watched all too frequently this past season. In the Islanders I saw a team that is on the rise, in the Sabres I am concerned that it will be many years of "suffering." I hope I am wrong but Buffalo needs to get faster, more aggressive and establish an effective forecheck.
