With most of Buffalo starting to look towards the draft, I've got a question about it. I know that every team that doesn't make the playoffs is put into a lottery for the top pick. After the top pick is determined the rest of the draft goes by record correct? If that's the case, how does a team like Buffalo who has 2 first round picks get decided which pick actually counts as their lottery pick? I know its unlikely for the Wild to drop out of the playoffs but a team like Columbus that has 3 1st round picks, 2 of which could easily be in the lottery. What would happen? Cause my thoughts were that say the Wild miss the playoffs, and what would've been their pick wins the lottery. Would the Sabres then own the top pick and then still have their normal pick which would probably be in the top 5?
