Most NHL trade deadlines has the Columbus Blue Jackets in the mix as one of the sellers as the team continues to find that right mix to try and make the playoffs. Now, the Columbus Blue Jackets could be the team that has interest in a couple of Sabre forwards. From the Columbus Dispatch:
Kekalainen wouldn't divulge who he's pursuing - he said no deal was imminent as of last night - but there are only so many clubs who are defined as sellers.
Buffalo and Calgary are selling, and the Sabres have two players who could interest the Blue Jackets.
The Columbus Blue Jackets do not have a lot in terms of player assets, but they do have a handful of first round picks from the various deals that they have done thus far. They have three first round picks, one of their own, one from the Rangers, and one from the Kings. The rumor out there is that the team is out there dangling the Kings first round pick which would be in the 20-30 range.
The Blue Jackets are heading to the Eastern Conference next year so if the Sabres do a deal, the team will see the Jackets more than twice a year. If you had a choice, would you rather see Pominville or Stafford in Columbus?
