Jameson Cooper of the Hockey Writers seems to think he's on the fast track out of Florida. He asserts Florida are part way through a pretty decent rebuild, and Weiss could be the last remaining member of the old guard that needs to move on in order for the team to do so as well.
He's got respectable career numbers, although I have no idea what his career faceoff percentage is, which is a pain when talking Center men. This Video shows him plenty capable of playing a defensively responsible game. Or just greedy on Ice time, although it was mostly circumstance if you ask me...
at 5'11" he's below average NHL size, but he has 2inches height on Ennis and a whole 40lb which certainly counts when you're putting on 92 hits for 11/12. he had way more blocked shots that Ennis and more PP points, even factoring in that Ennis played 60% of the games Weiss did.
But honestly, I haven't seen a lot of Florida games so the numbers could be lying to me....
He is headed to UFA at the end of the year so there is every chance he could up and walk away if he is so inclined...
