Saturday night, the Buffalo Sabres were shut out by Evgeni Nabokov and the New York Islanders in a 4-0 loss at the First Niagara Center. Saturday also marked the beginning of a new era at the FNC as the first home game under new Sabres' head coach, Ron Rolston. Ron, previously coach of the Rochester Americans, stepped in this week as interim head coach for Lindy Ruff, who was relieved of his duties this past week after the Sabres poor record so far this season. After tonight's loss, Ron is currently 0-2 with the Sabres, but results can not be expected overnight. Hopefully his new leadership can help turn the team around in the coming weeks.
