I may catch the ire of half the DBTB community, but I want to publicly display my gratitude toward Lindy during his tenure with the Sabres.
Believe it or not, Lindy Ruff was the personification of Buffalo. He was hard working, never flashy, honest, and blunt during his time with the Sabres (both as a player and coach). I never once heard him complain about his situation. He called out players when he needed to, but often times I think he tried to shoulder too much of the burden. Lindy also gave back to the community and you could feel it in your heart that this was a man that wanted to win a championship for his team.
Change is inevitable. I am sad to see Lindy go. I would have liked him to right the ship and turn things around this season, but that will not happen. I am excited for the new opportunities presented to the fans and players. The post season is still in reach, especially with this short season.
Thank you Lindy for everything you have given us. You wore your heart on your sleeve for many seasons.
Let me end this with some song lyrics (you are awesome if you know the artists)
Don't let me darken your door
That's not what I came here for
No it's not what I came here for
And I won't hear you cry when I'm gone
I won't know if I'm doing you wrong
I never know if I'm doing you wrong
