Buffalo acquired winger Linus Omark from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a conditional 6th round draft pick, with the condition being NHL games played this year. The 26-year old winger signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Oilers this year.
Omark has struggled out West over the past few seasons, hopping back and forth between the AHL and NHL, performing well in the minors but finding it difficult to translate that scoring ability to the big leagues. This season, Omark has 29 points in 29 games for AHL Oklahoma City , so at the very least he'll be a good boost to an Amerks team struggling to maintain a playoff spot.
Of course, Omark's shiftiness and small size could work out a heck of a lot better in the mostly-terrible Eastern Conference. He's gained a reputation for creative shootout moves ever since his nonchalant flip of the puck in an international friendly a few years ago - check out the video below.
We'll update this post if any further news comes out about this deal - what's your initial reaction, Sabres fans?
