Patrick Kaleta has spent the past few weeks in Rochester, trying to work his way back to the NHL after being demoted earlier this year for his reckless play.
Now, he'll have to wait until next season to make it back to Buffalo.
Last night, Kaleta suffered a torn ACL in Rochester's game against the Lake Erie Monsters, and his season has now come to an end.
By all accounts, Kaleta took his demotion like a pro, and was adjusting his style of play in Rochester to try and avoid the type of reckless hits that have given him a bad reputation around the league. Unfortunately, he won't be able to demonstrate that he's a changed man until the start of the 2014-15 season.
Kaleta has one more year on his contract which pays him $1.25 million per season.
