An article on the Senators SB Nation blog ( Should the senators be interested in Evander Kane? ) posing the question on Evander Kane's potential worth to their franchise. Given Buffalo's much talked about lack of bankable top line centers is it worth investigating a trade for a young guy who has some experience behind him in the big league and a respectable point tally working with a solid if unspectacular group of wingers.
He's currently an RFA and has a very respectable offer on the table from the Jets ( six-year deal worth $29 million ), but according to the article above all signs point to his ( unspoken ) desire to move on, meaning the door is potentially open for trade if the Jets get the right offer. If you'd be interested to see Kane in Buffalo who would you be shipping out to Winnipeg?
Take in to account also, Jets picked up Ollie Jokinen early in free agency so they're not exactly struggling for top 6 centres with team captain Andrew Ladd and Jokinen most likely making the top two middlemen should Kane bail out.
To stoke your imagination here are a few small samples of his work.
SO to recap quickly,
He's 6'2", 190lbs, 57pts for 2011/12. Not afraid of a tussle, and no stranger to the second and third and even fourth effort putting puck in net. He seems like he might be a good fit for the new direction Buffalo is heading.
Sound good to you or am I mad...?
