2012 NHL Draft: Sabres Select Brady Austin In Round 7

Stay connected for news and updates

With the 193rd pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres have taken defenseman Brady Austin from Belleville in the OHL.

A towering blueliner standing at 6'4'', and weighing a massive 230lbs, Austin scored 6-20-26 with 59PIM in 68 games last season. The Ontario native shoots lefthanded, and spent two years playing for the Erie Otters before moving to Belleville.

Austin is a stay at home defenseman who is very aggressive, according to OHL scout Sean Lafortune.

The Sabres are clearly focusing on size in this draft; the shortest player they've taken has been 6'1''. With Myers, McNabb, and Finley already in the pipeline, Austin is yet another massive defenseman in the Sabres' farm system.

Buffalo has one more pick before we can wrap this draft up.
