10-4-1 gives the Sabres an 80% chance of making the playoofs according to, (http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/Eastern/Northeast/Buffalo.html).
The Sabres have 9 away games and 6 home games left. They play 7 playoff bound teams on the road 6 of their remaining 15 games. (@ Boston (twice) @NY Rangers, @Philly, @Florida, and @ Ottawa) While they have one home bout vs. the red hot Pittsburgh Penguins, Who may be getting Crosby back in the very near future. The remaining 3 away games are against the teams you’re trying to beat for the 8th and final playoff spot (@Toronto, @ Washington, and @ Tampa Bay). That is a tall order.
On top of that 5 of your Remaining 6 home games are sandwiched in-between these above mentioned away games. That means no home stands to get comfortable. So here is the Question. With this tough of a schedule can the Sabres go 10-4-1? This would give them an 80% chance of getting into the 8th and final playoff spot.
If they actually do this their record since this years all star break would be 21-8-4. Just to give you an idea of how tough that would be, if they could have been this good for the whole season their record would have been 52-20-10. 0r 114 points Is this Sabres team that good? Can they do this? I want to know what you think.
