Around SBN: Shaq As Orlando Magic General Manager? Don't Bet On It

Daily Links for Monday, February 6

Ryan Miller is now the all-time leader in wins for a Sabres goaltender, and also leads the team in number of shadows.

With the football season coming to a finish yesterday, now the major sports outlets can turn their attention back to the only sport that matters, hockey. And just in time for the trade deadline, too.

Miller by the numbers - Sabres Edge
Heres some numerology on Ryan Miller in the wake of his 235th career win Saturday night on Long Island, which allowed him to break Dominik Hasek's franchise record.

Myers making up for lost time - The Buffalo News
Tyler Myers missed 19 games with a broken wrist this season so there's no way he's going to come close to the offensive totals of his first two years. But the Buffalo Sabres defenseman knows he can do more on the score sheet.

Injuries Moved Sabres Gaustad To Wing - WGR 550
If Paul Gaustad wanted to come back early from his upper body injury, he would have to move to LW.

Almost all systems go for Sabres - The Buffalo News
Aside from not being able to score, the Sabres' recent games are pretty much what they envisioned for the season.

Channel 2 Partners With MSG: Countdown 2 Faceoff - wgrz.com
MSG Networks and the Buffalo Sabres announced Sunday that they will make the February 11th Sabres vs. Lightning game available to fans who have been shutout of watching their favorite team after Time Warner Cable dropped MSG and MSG+ from their channel lineup back on January 1st.

Zach Parise To The Minnesota Wild: Too Easy? - SBNation.com
Zach Parise is really good at hockey. He doesn't have a contract next season, and the Minnesota Wild could use him. He's from Minnesota. This seems too obvious, doesn't it?

Apologies from 30 NHL teams - THN
Every NHL team has something to be sorry for so Adam Proteau does it for them in this week's column.

Congratulations to Canadiens’ Scott Gomez on the one-year anniversary of his last goal - Puck Daddy
Yesterday was a big day for football fans, as Super Bowl XLVI happened. But February 5, 2012 is arguably almost as big a day for puckheads: one year ago today, Montreal Canadiens' centre Scott Gomez scored his last NHL goal.

Jokinen has big (Mac) game - NHL.com
A trip to McDonald's was just what Calgary's Olli Jokinen needed to snap a lengthy goal-scoring drought by scoring in the Flames' win on Friday.

Msg is actually going to allow Channel 2 to broadcast a sabres game? Maybe the Mayans were right.

Awesome, about the MSG channel 2 thing except they are forgetting all of the fans who live in the Rochester area as well.

Never mind….I’m a tool.

What I MEANT to say is that it’s awesome that they are remembering the fans in the Rochester area as well.

By the way, had I actually not skimmed the article the first time, I would have praised them for this.

Yeah, I was a little baffled & then figured the mods decided to send the troll back under the bridge.

Hopefully it’ll be the last time. In a lot of the SBNation communities, using more than one handle is grounds for a permanent ban.

I don’t think he really understands the concept of trolling. Successfully trolling a board doesn’t mean coming out of nowhere to post a controversial comment and getting people to pay attention to you. That’s more attention whoring than anything else.

I heard that argument on here before (refer to comments section where playoffs are discussed)…but I cannot be 100% sure it is the same person.

Sadly, he’s currently attending my alma mater.
I’m kind of surprised that people don’t know to ignore him when he was clearly trolling (or better yet, just come back with ad hominem attacks, which is the best way to deal with someone like that) but I guess on a site like this where people are more frequently actually giving their honest opinions, it frequently gets confused with that.

The two do seem oddly familiar…

That was interesting

I tried to argue/debate with the infamous Lance himself when he came on here trolling about hockey needing 20’ octagonal goals and midget goalies with 4 on 4 hockey played on soccer field-sized rinks, but realized that you just cannot argue with someone who is so entirely convinced they’re opinion is gold no matter what. I’m glad the APC crew went nuts on the guy, because that thread was pure gold as far as entertainment goes, but they need to realize what I did when I stumbled upon the mythical troll of Lance: that the best course of action is to ignore such a creature.

I just heard he got hurt at practice. What is it with this team this year and injuries???? I wonder who takes over Wed if he can’t?
