You do realize the $7M figure isn’t the fault of Vanek? Vanek is the best offensive Player the Sabres have and has carried this team the last couple of seasons. He’ll never be a Malkin, Crosby, Stamkos. But he’s a legitimate Sniper and worth the top 5 pick the Sabres used on him. We call him ATLAS around these parts.

I can’t imagine they just come out and say it but it is more like they talk about players to target. He plays on the edge and I understand why they watch him more than other players but he clearly didn’t do anything that Hagelin didn’t do in that scrum.

He did talk about Kaleta being a target but at some point they have to publicly call out the league. The Sabres should make a Shanny type video of all the calls against Kaleta and have Lindy Ruff explain why they think he is targeted by the league.
“Hi. My name is Lindy Ruff, the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres. In the game against the New York Rangers on Saturday night, there was an incident between Carl Hagelin and Patrick Kaleta during the first period. In this video, you can clearly see that Hagelin gives Kaleta a shot to the face where the head was the principal point of contact. Kaleta pushes Hagelin and eventually pins him into the boards. Kaleta received the only penalty. The video clearly shows the referees had no intention of penalizing Hagelin for his actions and targeted Kaleta the entire time. We feel this shows a clear bias by the league and referees.”
Something along those lines. They could probably put six to eight videos up of plays that Kaleta was given a penalty and was singled out by the refs.

Arises from the idea that Grags was a critical part of last year’s playoff team, but REGIER WOULD ARGUE he can’t get on the ice because of Regehr, etc.

Satan was a selfish player that played only for himself. I don’t disagree that Vanek won’t lead the team to a cup, but he is a team guy with a ton of talent. He needs players around him to utilize his talent, but it is very unfair to compare him to Satan.
