The Sabres defenseman has tweaked his ankle while playing in Austria.

Reports are coming out of Europe that Buffalo Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers has injured his ankle. Luckily for Sabres fans, Myers is expected to return by the end of the week, or shortly thereafter.

Eyebrows were raised when it was reported that Myers would undergo an MRI on his ankle, but it seemed to be nothing more than precautionary. This injury follows the mystery injury that Tyler Ennis suffered while in Europe that forced the diminutive winger to come back to the States. Myers has been having an up and down campaign for Klagenfurter AC, notching 2 goals and 7 assists in 16 games, though he is a disturbing -8.

Christian Ehrhoff, on the other hand, is having a great campaign for Krefeld Pinguine, scoring 8 goals and 12 assists in 24 games, and is a +7 to boot. Alex Sulzer is playing well for ERC Ingolstadt, with a 2-9-11 in 15 games. Could his hot hand from the end of last season continue with his extended European training camp?

Other Sabres in Europe include Andrej Sekera (3-7-10 in 18 games) Jhonas Enroth (2.92 GAA and .908 SV% in 9 games), Jason Pominville, (yet to tally a point for Adler Mannheim in 2 games) and Mike Weber, who has tallied an equally impressive 0-0-0 in 1 game.

The longer the lockout drags on, the more actual hockey these players get to participate in, but also greater is the risk of injury. Let's hope this thing ends soon.
