My favorite things Leino has done as a Sabres
are saying the following things:
“I’ve been thinking about it, too,” Leino said. "Maybe our game production could be a little better. The music and the things between periods and between timeouts and stuff like that. I’m sure that could pump up the team a little bit, too.
“You’ve got to get this crowd excited. In Philly there’s just a lot of fighting and hitting. That stuff gets the crowd excited. It’s good for the fans. I don’t think we need to be fighting, but scoring goals and hitting — we can hit a lot more. Hitting gets the crowd going, gets the team going, gets people excited. That’s one thing we can affect. We don’t have to focus on hitting, but if you’re going in there you can’t circle around. You have to finish your hits. That’s something we as a team could do a lot more.”
and
“We could work on our game production — hopefully, I don’t get a hard time for saying this — but that’s the thing as an organization we can have an effect on.”

Yeah, it would be awesome if they showed ones in the BCA in Rochester when there wasn’t an arena conflict. That would be fun.

Really, no one else sees the irony in Leino saying there should be more hitting? No one? Fine, you guys, keep drinking the Finnish Koolaid.
Oh, I saw the irony. But in his defense, he had other people in Philly throwing their weight around, so he didn’t have to. So, he probably means “we need other people to finish their hits”. Notice he said “your hits” and not “my hits” or “our hits”. I don’t know, but maybe that’s the disconnect. The players say and know what they have to do, and yet….

Sounds delicious
It should contain Finlandia brand Vodka.
Irony? Yes. It's too obvious.
However, if he returns to the lineup and starts throwing hits with as much effort as he can muster, I’d give him a pass on the irony part. Even if he can’t be an effective hitter, he could lead by example to get the other small guys (and larger guys who don’t hit often i.e. Stafford) on the team to play more like Gerbe once in a while.
