Been waiting all week to watch Sabres Hockey. Ennis is back. Team is getting healthy. Let’s turn this around or plow it into the scorched earth.

Rather keep Ennis.

Gerbe is a player that every team needs.

Plus Ill take the selfish route that I loved him in college and have his jersey.

by bflo on Jan 31, 2012 7:59 PM EST up reply actions

Only players on the Sabres I wouldn’t move would be Myers and Vanek. Everyone else is available for the right offer. Between Ennis and Gerbe? I think Ennis has more potential. I don’t ever see Gerbe being a consistent scorer in the NHL and I don’t think the Feisty Badger persona is enough for me to keep him.

That’s they only way if they’re making smart, effective trades. I don’t have so much faith in the front office anymore, a little, but not that much. I could see them trading luke adam for any old reason, though I really hope they wouldn’t unless we could really benefit from it. Just because he’s chained to the radiator in Lindy’s basement doesn’t mean he’s worth dumping. Far from the first move I would make, unless I could get a great deal for him. Really, I don’t want to get rid of our current best chance at center, the position were the weakest at

And just because Ruff is giving him some rough love, doesn’t mean he doesn’t like Adam or will never utilize him in a more important role.

my best estimation is they won’t, but I really don’t know what they’re thinking. Sometimes I can understand where other people are coming from, I like to think that most of the time with most of the people I come across in my own society/culture, and even a fair amount from other societies I can get a good read on their motivations and figure fairly well what they’re apt to do in under many circumstances. With the sabres management, I’m really not good at guessing what they will do. It’s not just that I disagree with what they do or think I could do better, I just don’t know what their guiding philosophy is, and as such I really don’t know the reasoning behind much of what they do. So I really don’t know what they think luke adam is worth, what they think his place on the team is, what he’s capable of, etc. So to me it feels like when it comes to making a move, they could do anything, though I expect them to do nothing

Anyone notice the Blackhawks acquired Brendan Morrison

and practically only gave up an AHL defenseman.

I’m not saying that Morrison would have been the cure to the Sabres ills but if the Sabres had some cap space it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to add some center depth.

Including LTIR

We have about $3.2 million in space…so we could acquire center depth in the $1-2 million range. LTIR only gives us relief though…so I think by the end of the year, we would have to adjust our roster so that we fit below the $64.3 million cap.

Not completely out of the zone but it was around the top of the faceoff circle and the sabres shifted it closer to the blue line… probably moved it about 15 feet or so.

by bluecollarbuffalo on Jan 31, 2012 9:51 PM EST up reply actions

well, some guys on our roster just suck. im not saying lindy is responsible for everything wrong on this team. but i think he brings the worst out of a lot of his players, or at least he can’t get great performances from many players who are capable of playing great. I dunno why, but for everyone to be underachieving I think the coach has to bear at least a little bit of responsibility, though yeah, some of the players just suck

"I get inspired by the blunts too."

by sah-brays on Jan 31, 2012 9:56 PM EST up reply actions

Lindy strikes me as a "prove me your worth" type

which can be rough for trade deadline guys but it’s not a bad approach if you ask me.

how does boyes start out great and turn shitty? shouldn’t the opposite normally happen? struggle to adjust and then get better when they get used to their surroundings? yet whether they’re trade acquisitions or call ups, it seems like they start out playing with passion, energy, and ultimately success and then turn to shit

"I get inspired by the blunts too."

by sah-brays on Jan 31, 2012 10:03 PM EST up reply actions

Boyes has always been very streaky and volatile.

Lindy pretty much demands his players be responsible in their own end. This sometimes brings their offensive production down, but it they help prevent as many goals, it is a net even.
