let's go buffalo!
chin up folks…. the hawks are a terrific team (a team that was in the toilet only 5 or so years ago)…. so the sabres are going to have to go back to the drawing board… so they’ve gotta rethink things…. turning a team around can take time… possibly several seasons, but buffalo will rise again! who knows, time warner may even be showing sabres games again a few seasons from now.
If I had watched Derek Roy and Drew Stafford do a production of Hostel with a cast entirely composed of one year olds, it would have been easier to watch than the abortion that was last night.
haha
ouch. one major problem is sloppy give-aways…. good friggin grief, get the puck out of your own end… don’t pass it between the defensemen a dozen times before cracking that blue-line. so frustrating. especially when the passes are right in front of enroth… wtf? absolute lack of confidence.
plan for the sabres:
1) fire regeir and the management team (they have made consistently bad decisions since letting briere and drury go…. acquiring boyes, leino, even allowing connolly to walk in free-agency…. ‘but mage, connolly sucked. okay, but he’s doing fine on the leafs this year! hmmmm.‘).
2) fire ruff… he’s a good guy, but he’s had a great run, and it’s time for a change of head-coach.
3) try to shed big salary contracts to free up cap space (i don’t follow the cap too closely especially for the sabres, but i know big-money was thrown around like crazy last summer).
4) once the season is considered a complete loss, allow the prospects to get some ice time in the big leagues….
come on folks! let’s hear some sabres chatter!
I think it’s reasonable to think that the Sabres will draft somewhere between 5-7th overall. I’d like to move up to the top three and simultaneously clear out some dead wood. Maybe get a character guy back.
I'm not sure any team would be willing to trade out of a top 3 spot
For whatever reason the top 3 picks have been pretty much automatic for the past three years and I think there’s a bit of a drop off after that. I don’t think a team that’s really bad in the first place would be wiling to take on our dead weight while moving out of the top 3. Our only chance is to tank, which at this point is not out of the question by any means.

In all fairness
You can’t blame Leino entirely for that play. I think Lindy was actually right about that. His instincts were to do what he is supposed to do in that situation as dictated by the system.
And one would think that at least one of the two guys trailing the play
would pick that pass up.

2012 Amazin' Avenue Offseason Plan: 2nd place
What I noticed last night.
1. It doesn’t matter who is in goal and a big reason for that is #2.
2. The defensive play by the team lets too many players get closer to the net than Sabres. D losing track of opponents (See #3) and weak back checking by a number of forwards.
3. Weber is going through the “oh yeah, I forgot about that guy” phase much like Sekera and Butler did.
4. Vs. (it will take some time to call them anything else) hates the Sabres and will go out of their way to slam them, so why do the Sabres have to make it easy for them?
Go Sabres!
I don’t think Vs. “hates” the Sabres. Any team that underachieves to the extent that we are right now deserves to take some shit. Maybe it’s not totally fair given the injuries but some of it’s definitely warranted. Any time a team splashes around as much money as we did this offseason, they’re going to take on some extra criticism when things don’t go well, just ask the Leafs and Rangers.

This is true.
But a prime example of how shotty they are is that in the opening they were calling on Pominville to “step up”, “be a leader”, etc. However, when he scores the first goal of the game (never mind scoring two in the game) they say nothing of him “stepping up” and fulfilling his “leadership duties” so to speak.
So yes, the Sabres deserved to take some shots, but it’s also abundantly clear that they (NBC/Versus) only care about their story lines.
