Buffalo Sabres v. Chicago Blackhawks - By the Numbers
Tonight was the first time all season that it looked like the team quit. I don't know if this means they no longer want to play for Lindy Ruff or if it was a result of the score. Either way, it was ugly.
Just two nights after a 5-0 loss at Detroit, the Sabres suffered a similar fate in a 6-2 thumping by the Chicago Blackhawks. Buffalo actually had a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jason Pominville but Chicago took advantage of a couple of power play opportunities and took the lead for good.
It will be interesting to see if the team can find a way to bounce back on Thursday at Winnipeg. It has the makings of a blowout and therefore will probably be a close game.
Let's take one last look at last night before we get ready for the game this evening.

This is why
This is why I said get rid of Lindy before. I like Lindy Ruff but it’s been clear the team is not responding. I question his moves in defying logic not his motives. I’m not buying any of it, Adam should be back between Pommer and Vanek (they were on carreer years). Hecht is a better winger. Put him with Roy and Stafford. Put Leino (even though he has a disappointment) between Gerbe and Tropp (if available). Trade Boyes and his 4 million salary as this would allow Morrisonn to be brought up (during injuries) or maybe bring Kotalik in. Trade Gragnani, he will never play defense in the NHL. Get off your arses (front office) and do what you get paid to do!
They can’t call up Morissonn due to re-entry waivers (and a bottom pairing d at one million is something a number of teams would claim) and Kotalik is no longer in North America.
OPERATION TANK IS A GO. It’s the only explanation for Mike Weber. He’s on a secret mission.
If your solution involves bringing Kotalik back
you don’t have much of a solution.

So what
Right now Kotalik would be an improvement over the play of some, but I agree with your overall premise and I do realize he is on "loan’ to a European team. Simply a try at shaking things up a bit. The Sabres need to clear cap space, if Morrisonn doesn’t clear so what, he isn’t playing anyways. You can’t stand pat! What is happening now is not injuries alone and you guys know it. I suspect the Sabres will be way out of it by the trade deadline and it would be the time to move some players. Some young guys are due a promotion. I think Regier is the most accountable here for the product on the ice.
I’d prefer that when doing stuff for the hell of it, it doesn’t make us go over the cap.

Did you not see
Brad Boyes being traded in my prior post? 4mil cap hit. I love you guys on here, so your answer is hope for the best? Commander Lindy will get the boys going, ha! They’re done for this year. Let’s stand pat and repeat it next year! We may have the highest cap hit and may end up at the bottom of the league. Regier sucks, Lindy sucks (the last couple of years anyway), and virtually half the team sucks. I am not a knee-jerk person but I see where all of this is going currently, which is nowhere fast.
I just assumed Boyes wasn’t worth trading. I guess then if we somehow traded him (likely for less than nothing) we could lose morrissonn and it would only matter to the Amerks so it wouldn’t be an issue to try and call him up.

Positive Thoughts
Sekera has been playing pretty well. He was matched up against Kane/Toews/Keith/Seabrook most of his night and he still came away +1 with 4 even-strength scoring chances to only 2 against. Remember when he and Weber were about even coming out of the AHL? Not anymore, at least in my mind.

In terms of possession, Sekera is the team’s best defense-man and its not even close.
