How to help:
In the comments, please respond with the goalie's name, the date of the incident, and a source. If you can only provide one or two of the three, that's fine. Every bit helps.
Also, anywhere you see a (?), that means I need a clarification - such as a date.
Thanks in advance.

Just looking NHL?
I imagine you are, but I added some others I found. Wikipedia is sourced a few times…obviously this is no good for academic research, but maybe with some more digging you can find an actual article which is better.
Have you been able to find any NHL Injury Lists? I tried looking to find lists from previous years, but that seemed to be a struggle. I would think the NHL would keep such information…it would be stupid not to. For contact information, I only see the NHL advertising and sales team, so I am not sure if it is possible to get ahold of someone that could get you a list of that information.
One website I see pop up over and over again is theconcussionblog.com. They have 125 posts for all NHL concussions here; not sure how helpful they are, but they say they have concussion lists for the NHL players that get injured throughout the year. Overall, the stats from this blog show that about 2-3% of the concussion in the NHL occur to goalies, while the other positions have a much higher percentage (due to open ice hits and high sticks I imagine),

Yeah, I'm looking for just NHL.
The NHL isn’t too good about providing information – I mean they stopped tracking the blocks stat a few years back. I’ll check out that blog though.

This list is pretty depressing. None of the goalies listed have been good since their concussions.

You're my favorite DBTBer
The hockey media needs more people like you who do their research and back up their claims/arguments with data.

I can’t believe you prefer facts & statistics to capital letters and multiple exclamation points. What the hell is wrong with you, dude? Obviously you just don’t care enough. Bad, bad fan.

Can’t someone have an opinion in the middle ground between data and capital letter and exclamation points and still have an intelligent point? CAN’T THEY!!!!! (See what I did there?).
We are so quick to site the extremes around here.

I’m not sure the part you are referring to unless you are referencing my attempt at sarcasm?

Never mind
I suppose reasonable intelligibility give or take a misused word really is the new middle ground.
Really, b/c I didn’t write “cite” on a hockey blog I’m now an idiot? Please. Sorry if my typo brought down the intelligence of the site (Or is it cite? or sight?).

There is obviously a place for opinion.
Speaking for myself, it gets annoying and tedious when you have people who treat opinion as fact though.
The header does say " Buffalo Sabres Blog for Intelligent Fans". One thing that makes for intelligent fans is knowing where opinion stops, and fact begins.
And with regard to Kate’s comment, I don’t think she (it is “she”, right?) was saying there are only two types of comments. It’s just that, let’s call them the “exclamation point crowd”, they don’t seem to understand the difference between an opinion supported by logic and one only based on conjecture.

I know….and you and I have had this discussion before (which we don’t need to revisit), but I feel the tone around here sometimes is one to make people who can’t research before every comment they make feel like idiots. Plus I absolutely hate the header here. It reminds me too much of Mike Schopp’s “Sports Talk for Smart People” on WNSA which made him sound pretty arrogant back in the day (I think he’s gotten a little better with that). Statistics are awesome….I’m not saying they aren’t. Some opinions are clearly more thought out than others, but I feel like there is a growing group of regular commenter who mock other commenters instead of stating why they disagree with someone (or ignoring the post entirely which would probably make that sort of thing go away relatively quickly) and leaving the intelligence level of the person (or people who have similar feelings) out of it. It’s that sort of thing I find frustrating, but I think it bothers me b/c there isn’t a whole lot original to say about the Sabres until they: Start winning, totally implode in outrageous fashion, fire someone, or trade someone.

Emailed Dustin Fink @ concussionblog.net
He had data for NHL goalies with concussions the past two years:
This year
Al Montoya
Josh Harding
Steve Mason
Ryan Miller
James Reimer
Last year
Jonas Hiller
Ryan Miller
Ondrej Pavelec
That is what I have… Good Luck…
More Info:
Steve Mason:

Also minor concussion while in juniors.
I could not find info on the Josh Harding concussion from this year…but I guess he had one? Hope this helps.

Thinking about reaching out to other SBN blogs.
This is a great start but I can’t help but think there are some others we’ve yet to find.
Anyone have any idea how receptive they’d be?

most likely very receptive
I’ve reached out to other blogs before, and they’ve been receptive. Although it was not hockey related.
Ryan Miller was the true MVP. See my profile for rant.
I think I’m going to stop trying. Every time I find one I think you don’t have, I reread your list and realize that you already have it. Oh well. Great idea.
I think the other blogs would be very receptive. Plus, it would make this easier b/c I can remember Sabres who have received concussions quicker than I can Flyers who have received them.

It is really hard to find
The data is not really easily available to anyone, which I do not appreciate. I have seen papers written that discuss this topic, but they only deal with percentages and not discrete data points that we have above. I contacted the NHL to see if they have injury lists from the past that they would send to us…but I have not heard back from them yet.

Oh I am not optimistic.
In other papers that study the subject on a whole, they acquired their data sets from media sources. To me, I would not know why TSN, ESPN, NBC, or whatever media source would hide that information. It does not take a lot of space to have a page with all injuries for a season.

I read that.
I was afraid he was going to steal my thunder. Luckily he just supplied a lot of really good anecdotal evidence.

Can't find any verification whatsoever for Richter 1998
Even the wikipedia article you link has no mention of it.
You know what I totally misread that part of his Wikipedia page.
Thanks. Updated.
