Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

Daily Links for Wednesday, January 11

Breaking news: The Sabres still stink.

Vanek leaves with illness as Sabres shut out in Toronto - The Buffalo News
The Sabres lost Thomas Vanek to an upper-body injury, food poisoning or the flu, with the team's top goal scorer able to play just the opening 20 minutes.

Mishaps leave Stafford frustrated -The Buffalo News
Buffalo Sabres winger Drew Stafford led all players with six shots on goal Tuesday night and also might have been at the top of the stat sheet on the frustration scale too.

Cure For What Ails Sabres May Not Come From Within - KuklasKorner
If teams are calling Darcy Regier about Derek Roy and/or Drew Stafford, there has to be little doubt that he’s listening.

One word fail - Face First Into the Boards
This team has no heart, no pulse, no grit or determination. I don't even think they are necessarily soft (a common complaint) but more that they aren't tenacious at all. They don't look like they care.

MSG/TWC Battle Continues With Fans Caught In Between - Sabre Noise
The Buffalo Sabres were once again blacked out in homes that carried Time Warner Cable and Dish Network.

The quote you picked from Face First summarizes what I think about this team. The key to it is the don’t LOOK like they care. A few years ago (and I’ve mentioned it before) someone (either Roy, Pommers, or Connolly…I think it was Pommers) said it ticks him off when people say they aren’t trying or working hard, but he understands it because when they watch film, it LOOKS like they aren’t trying hard. The not tenacious part might explain that.

Also, can Time Warner and MSG just pocket the money they are spending on ads to convince me the other side sucks (turns out they both do) and meet in the middle?

Yeah those commercials are pissing me off.

Canceling TWC after the rest of the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl. With no MSG HD, its not worth it. Ill just watch online.

And back to the other point… coaches always say, “The tape dont lie.”
They arent trying, or at least arent trying all the time. Time to blow up “The Core, minus Vanek.”

I hate that I love Buffalo.

But, I think that they think they are trying. I think it’s a mental thing of waiting for the game to come to them, or not having the confidence to be aggressive. As we’ve been saying with “the core” for a while now, a lot is mental.

I’m going to contact TWC and see what they offer to try and keep me – have heard some others have gotten pretty sweet pricing locked in for 2 years to stay, and i’d rather not have to deal with Verizon and getting my internet switched over.

Thats a possabillity too

if they give us a good deal, ill stay, but if n ot ill ust keep my Road Runner. Its not worth the prices theyre charging, especailly now with no MSG. But if they give me a good deal, Ill think about it.

I hate that I love Buffalo.

And actually...

I started bitching about them on twitter the other day because I lost all HD feeds and then I just had it with that plus losing MSG, they started following me and tweeting me back until the HD problem was fixed, kept apologizing for the MSG/TWC fiasco saying “theyre trying”

I hate that I love Buffalo.

New mission:

“Fail for Faksa”

Radek Faksa:

After the pair of Russians, the only other forward in the top 10 is Radek Faksa of the Kitchener Rangers. Listed at 6’3" and 202 lbs., Faksa is a power forward not unlike former Kitchener Ranger Gabriel Landeskog, the second overall pick of the 2011 NHL Draft. So far this season, Faksa has 34 points (17 G, 17 A) in 32 games with Kitchener, as well as 29 penalty minutes.

Wouldn't Vanek have been classified as "middle body " injury ?

What are Sabres trying to prove with that BS anyway ?
